2 days in Dubai isn’t a lot, but it’s just enough to scratch the surface of this shimmering, city in the desert.
If, like me, you tend to chronically overpack your itineraries with all of your bucket list destinations, this is the guide for you.
After spending a little while there myself, I’ve developed an optimised itinerary to help you pack in as much as possible into a 2-day Dubai itinerary, without feeling rushed.
I even got my friends who live in Dubai to check it over, add in their insider recommendations, and make sure I didn’t miss anything major.
It’s the perfect itinerary for you if you love to blend culture with a little dash of luxury, see the sights – but also still get time for sunset cocktails.
It includes a quick overview of the itinerary for those in a hurry. I’ll then go into detail about each day, and include some FAQs at the end to help you plan your trip.
Feel free to give me a shout in the comments if you have any additional questions!

Where to Stay for 2 Days in Dubai

You’ve got two options for places to stay for this itinerary: Downtown Dubai, which is close to the airport and most of the activities on day one, or Dubai Marina/The Palm, which is close to the beaches and most of the activities on day two.
Here are my recommendations for both:
Downtown Dubai
The Heritage Hotel: Stylish and cosy four-star hotel with a pretty pool area and gym, just a 10-minute walk from the Dubai Mall and Fountains. Some rooms boast views of the Burj Khalifa.
Address Downtown: Gorgeous luxury stay just a few minutes’ stroll from Dubai Mall. Rooms with balconies overlooking the fountains available, plus an exclusive spa, 11 restaurants, and a skyline-view infinity pool and bar.

Dubai Marina/The Palm
St Regis the Palm: A luxury, five-star hotel right in the heart of the Palm and the same building as Aura Skypool. It also has a private pool for residents, and complimentary beach beds at Kyma with a free shuttle to take you there.
Vida Dubai Marina & Yacht Club: Gorgeous four-star property with balcony views over the marina and a sleek infinity pool. Just a couple of minutes walk from the Metro.

Full 2 Days in Dubai Itinerary
Below you’ll find the 2-day Dubai itinerary in more detail, including how to get from place to place and recommendations on where to eat and drink along the way!
Day 1
On the first of your two days in Dubai, you’ll get your culture fix in the city’s old quarter, whizz to the top of the world’s tallest building, and marvel at iconic installations in Dubai mall.
Visit the Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood

When most people think of Dubai, they think of towering skyscrapers and man-made beaches, but there’s more to this city than meets the eye.
The first stop on this itinerary gives you a glimpse into the old Dubai – before the brunch parties and luxury malls.
Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood is located at the Northern end of the city, where Dubai Creek meets the sea.
Here, traditional coral-stone buildings are separated by a maze of narrow pathways, wind towers, and shaded courtyards, offering a rare glimpse of what life in the Emirate looked like before the oil boom.
It’s an easy 20–30 minute taxi ride from Downtown or a five-minute walk from Al Fahidi Metro Station.

I recommend getting there early on your first day and stopping by the Coffee Museum and XVA Gallery for a taste of heritage and contemporary art. You can also take a walking tour of the quarter and the nearby souk, which includes a boat ride over the creek.
Or, you can book a traditional Emirati breakfast at the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding (SMCCU), one of the most authentic cultural experiences in Dubai. The hosts offer frank, open conversations about Emirati culture, religion, and traditions in a cosy, courtyard setting.
Head up the Burj Khalifa

It’s time to witness first-hand the diversity of Dubai as you swap the old quarter for the Burj Khalifa, a futuristic skyscraper that takes the crown as the world’s tallest building.
No 2-day Dubai itinerary would be complete without it.
From Al Fahidi, it’s around a 20–25 minute taxi ride (AED 35–50) or a simple metro journey on the Green Line from Al Fahidi Station to Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall Station, with one transfer at BurJuman. From there, follow the air-conditioned walkway straight into Dubai Mall, where the entrance to the Burj Khalifa observation decks is clearly signposted.

You’ll want to book a ticket in advance to avoid the queues, look for ones that take you to the ‘At the Top’ levels (124 and 125).
You can also book a VIP experience at the Level 152 Lounge, perfect if you want to add a little touch of luxury to your visit and don’t feel like dealing with the crowds. It includes a glass of bubbly or a drink of your choice, plus luxury canapes and cakes.
I definitely recommend this if your budget can stretch!
Go Shopping in the Dubai Mall

If you’re feeling peckish after your trip to the top of the world, you’ve got every restaurant and food outlet under the sun to choose from in Dubai Mall.
It’s located right next door to the Burj Khalifa, so you can step straight inside the air-conditioned mega-mall.
Even if shopping is not your thing, it’s worth having a quick wander round to check out some of the sculptural installations, like the human waterfall.

Those with kids might want to go inside the aquarium, and you’ve also got the option of ice skating if you feel like it, at an Olympic-sized ice rink.
Of course, if you do love to shop, you’ve got over 1,200 stores to flit between, from your favourite international designers to local boutiques and iconic department stores like Bloomingdale’s.
See the Fountains at Sunset

I strongly believe sunset is the best time to see the famous Dubai fountain show, although they are pretty spectacular at any time of night.
As the sun dips behind the city’s skyline, make your way outside Dubai Mall to the Dubai Fountain, set on the Burj Lake at the base of the Burj Khalifa.
Find yourself a spot in the crowd for the dazzling choreography of water, light, and music that bursts from jets reaching over 150 metres high. The shows run every 30 minutes from 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm, and catching the first one at sunset is a must.
As the sky shifts from gold to deep indigo and the Burj Khalifa lights up, it all feels very cinematic.
If you don’t want to elbow your way through the crowds, you can try to grab a table at The Tap House on the Souk Al Bahar side of the lake – its terrace overlooks the fountains and pairs European bites with craft beers and cocktails. You can also try the Pool Lounge Bar at the Address Downtown, for elevated cocktails alfresco.
Alternatively, you can enjoy a casual sundowner at Time Out Market’s terrace, where you can sample gourmet bites and watch the fountains with the Burj towering above.
Eat your way around Global Village

As evening falls, swap the city lights for something more eclectic. Global Village is Dubai’s open-air celebration of world culture, food, and entertainment.
Open from October to April, it’s part theme park, part international bazaar, and completely unique to Dubai. Think pavilions from over 90 countries, street performances, live music, artisan markets, and a kaleidoscope of global street food.
From Downtown Dubai, Global Village is around a 25–30 minute taxi ride (roughly AED 50–70). You can also take the Dubai Metro (Red Line) to Mall of the Emirates Station, then catch a connecting RTA bus (Route 102) that goes directly to the park. Gates open at 4:00 pm, and the atmosphere builds after dark when the lights, music, and crowds come alive.

To make the most of your visit, arrive just after sunset to wander the international pavilions and get a flavour of what you fancy – perhaps Turkish kebabs, Japanese street food, or Emirati luqaimat (sweet dumplings) for dessert.
Don’t miss the nightly fireworks and stunt shows before heading back.
Entry to Global Village costs just £5, and you can get your tickets in advance here.
Day 2
The second day of this itinerary sees you swapping skyscrapers for sand with a flying visit to the desert, followed by an afternoon on the sea down by the iconic Dubai Marina.
Finally, toast to an incredible 2 days in Dubai with a cocktail at the iconic Aura Skypool and fine dining in the city.
Go on a Morning Desert Safari

With so much to see in the city, it’s all too easy to forget about the desert when you only have two days in Dubai. However, heading on a desert safari was definitely one of the highlights of our trip, and worth fitting in, even if you’re short on time.
It’s fascinating to see how the glitz of the city fades so quickly into an expanse of sand dunes, stretching far into the horizon. You’ve got plenty of options for visiting this incredible sand pit, depending on your preferred thrill level.
You can go on a desert safari (what we did – definitely recommended), which also includes pick up and drop off from your hotel in the city, photo stops and sandboarding on the dunes.
You can also choose to add on a camel ride, quad bike adventure, or dune buggy tour, or opt for a private tour for a more exclusive experience.
It starts early, so you can catch a glimpse of an unforgettable sunrise over the sand dunes.
Have Lunch in a Beach Club on the Palm

After an adventurous morning, it’s time to dial down the pace a little with a visit to the city’s iconic beaches.
You can’t miss a trip to the Palm – an incredible man-made island in the shape of a palm tree – which boasts some of the city’s best beach clubs and most exclusive stretches of sand.
Maison de la Plage is a popular spot for Mediterranean-inspired fare in an ultra-elegant setting, or you can soak up the boho vibes at Surf Club. SAN Beach Club is another popular spot for toes-in-the-sand dining and a stunning seafood menu.
If your hotel is in Downtown Dubai, take a taxi or rideshare to the Palm; it’s about a 25–30 minute drive, depending on traffic. Alternatively, ride the Dubai Metro (Red Line) to Dubai Marina Station, then transfer to the Palm Monorail for scenic views as you head onto the island.
Take a Boat Tour of Dubai Marina

Of course, you can always spend the afternoon chilling on the beach, but if you really want to maximise every moment of your 2 days in Dubai, a boat tour of the Dubai Marina is a must.
It’s the perfect way to get a snapshot of the city’s skyline from the water, gliding past futuristic towers, luxury yachts, and landmarks like Ain Dubai and JBR Beach. You can choose from private yacht charters, catamaran cruises, or traditional dhow rides.
This luxury 60-minute yacht cruise is surprisingly affordable, and it departs every hour, so you can easily fit it into your itinerary.

Alternatively, you can find longer cruises that include sunset drinks or even dinner as well, if you prefer to skip the final two stops on this itinerary.
From The Palm, it’s a quick 10–15 minute taxi ride to Dubai Marina Mall or Pier 7, where most tours depart. For a more scenic route, take the Palm Monorail back to Gateway Station and walk or taxi the short distance to the Marina.
See the Sunset at Aura Skypool

For your final sunset in Dubai, I definitely recommend reserving a bed at Aura Skypool – one of the world’s highest infinity pools.
Beds for the sunset slot are definitely pricey, but justifiable in my opinion for those dreamy dusk views over Dubai. I wrote a whole post about visiting so you can book the best seats for the show.
If your budget doesn’t stretch to Aura Skypool, you can always book a sunset cruise of the marina instead to enjoy golden hour from a different perspective.
Or perhaps head to one of Dubai’s many stunning rooftop bars for a cocktail. Popular spots on the Palm or Dubai Marina include Nobu, Above Eleven, and The Penthouse.
Have Dinner at One of Dubai’s Top Restaurants

Dubai is world-renowned for its food and drink scene, so it would be a crime to leave without popping into one of the best restaurants in the city.
There are so many to choose from here, you can’t really go wrong. In the downtown area, Amazonica and Opa are popular choices, which both turn into a bit of a party later on. The latter is one you’ve probably seen on Instagram, where you can smash real plates at the end of a Greek mezze feast.
On the Palm, the famous Japanese spot Nobu has a place at The Atlantis hotel – a great way to incorporate the hotel into your itinerary, or you can try Pan-asian food at ATTIKO in Dubai Marina.
Finally, if your budget stretches to fine dining,11 Woodfire is a unique Michelin-starred number, where everything is grilled over an open flame, located in a converted villa in suburban Jumeirah.
How to Spend 1 Day In Dubai

Only have one day in Dubai? I recommend following day one of this itinerary and potentially swapping Global Village in the evening for a meal in one of Dubai’s best restaurants, depending on your budget and preferences!
That means you’ll spend one day in Dubai exploring the city’s historical district, whizzing up to the top of the Burj Khalifa, getting lost in Dubai Mall, seeing the fountain show at sunset and wrapping up your day with some refined cuisine in a highly-rated restaurant.
If You Have Extra Time in Dubai

Have more than 2 days to spend in Dubai? Lucky you. Here are a few extra things you could squeeze into your itinerary:
- Hit up one of the city’s iconic brunches – the one at Zuma is a top choice.
- Spend the day on Kite or Jumeirah Beach – public beaches with watersports, sunbeds for rent, and hundreds of food and drink outlets.
- Take a jet ski tour to Burj Al Arab, the famed seven-star hotel
- Go shopping in the Gold Souk and Spice Market
- Visit the Museum of the Future
- Ride the slides at Atlantis Aquaventure World
- Visit the colourful Dubai Miracle Garden with its vibrant flower displays and sculptures
2 Days in Dubai Itinerary: FAQs
Where to Eat in Dubai?

Dubai’s dining scene is world-class, with everything from Michelin-starred spots to authentic street food. There are a few places I recommend in addition to the ones already mentioned above:
For fine dining, try Ossiano at Atlantis The Palm, with its underwater views, CE LA VI atop Address Sky View for skyline glamour, or Tresind Studio for cutting-edge Indian cuisine.
For something more local, head to Arabian Tea House in Al Fahidi or Al Fanar at Festival City, where you can try traditional Emirati dishes. And don’t miss the city’s global street food scene at Global Village or Time Out Market in Downtown.
Best Time to Visit Dubai?

The best time to visit is between November and April, when temperatures are manageable (mid-20s°C) and perfect for outdoor sightseeing, desert safaris, and beach days. This is also Dubai’s peak season, so book hotels and activities early. The summer months (May to September) are extremely hot but often come with top hotel deals.
How to Get to Dubai?

Most people fly into Dubai International Airport (DXB), one of the world’s busiest and best-connected hubs. It’s just a 15–20 minute drive from Downtown Dubai. Alternatively, some flights land at Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC), about 40 minutes from the city centre. Taxis, metro connections, and private transfers are readily available from both.
How to Get Around Dubai?

Dubai’s metro system is clean, efficient, and covers most major attractions, including the Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall, and Dubai Marina. For more flexibility, taxis and rideshares (like Careem or Uber) are affordable and plentiful. Many areas are also linked by water taxis or abras, and the Palm Monorail offers scenic rides across Palm Jumeirah. If you’re planning several day trips, consider renting a car for convenience.
Is 2 Days in Dubai Enough?

Two days in Dubai gives you just enough time to experience the city’s contrasts – from old-world charm in Al Fahidi to modern marvels like the Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall, and Palm Jumeirah. While you’ll only scratch the surface, a well-planned itinerary like the one above can cover the highlights and leave you wanting more.
