Alberobello at night is a truly enchanting experience, with fairytale Trulli homes twinkling as far as the eye can see.
If you can find time in your Puglia itinerary to spend the night in Alberobello (rather than just taking a day trip), I promise it will be worth it! You can even stay the night in a traditional Trullo for the full fairytale experience.
There’s just one problem: nightlife in this charming little town can be hard to come by, unless you know where to look.
After spending over a week there recently, I’ve compiled a list of the best restaurants and bars to visit and fun things to do at night, with something for every type of traveller!
Some of these aren’t online or on TripAdvisor so save this post to refer back to.
Alberobello at Night: TLDR

Where to Stay: Il Gabellota Resort – Trulli accommodation with a pool!
Best Bar: Paco Wines is the most famous, Terrazza Panorámico Cummersa has the best rooftop views!
Best Restaurant: Corte dei Trulli serves sensational local fare inside a stylish Trullo home. The food was incredible (plus, the pasta portions are HUGE).
Unique Things to Do in Alberobello at Night: Watch the unusual street performances, go on an aperitivo walking tour, or take a pasta and tiramisu cooking class in a local’s home.
Top Tip: If you are staying overnight in Alberobello, get up early to beat the arrival of the day trippers and have the town to yourself for a magical hour or two.
5 Best Alberobello Restaurants
Corte Dei Trulli

We booked Corte dei Trulli for our final night in Alberobello and can firmly say we were not disappointed.
Our party of six was all blown away by the food, and we chose to indulge in both pasta and main courses for the full Italian experience.
They did a sensational truffled carbonara as well as a sumptuous lobster linguine. Just beware the pasta courses are huge, so make sure you go in there with a big appetite.
For mains, you can choose between some classic Puglian dishes or interesting international choices with a twist. My husband went for the seared tuna and said it was insane!

We also loved the decor in this restaurant.
Although it was housed in a traditional rustic Trullo building, they have invested in high-end ceramics and beautiful, one-of-a-kind fossilised tabletops, which really elevate the dining experience.
And unlike some other restaurants we experienced in Puglia, the service was incredibly fast and efficient.
You’ll easily spot this restaurant if you’re walking along the main street in Alberobello at night because it’s perched at the top of a street in the Rione Monti and all lit up from below.
Ristorante Il Pinnacolo

We stumbled on this charming pizzeria when walking around Alberorello at night when we first arrived. We got there early, but it filled up fast, so I recommend making a booking.
While the service was typically Italian and laid-back (read: pretty slow), we weren’t too fussed once the waiter had finally brought our drinks.
We had a bottle of the local white wine, which was absolutely gorgeous – definitely try the Falanghina while you’re in Italy.
I went for the pistachio pasta, which was the perfect way to refuel after a long day of travelling. Some others in our party went for pizza, which was crispy and delicious, just as only the Italians really know how to do.

We were pretty stuffed afterwards, but I still found room for a novel dessert choice – just five delicious homemade truffles which went perfectly with a coffee.
Just like Corte dei Trulli, this restaurant is inside a Trullo in the Rione Monti zone, but has stuck with more of a traditional interior scheme. Think woven basket lighting and stripy linen tablecloths.
Cico Osteria

If you’re hoping to splash out on a stylish night in Alberobello, Cico Osteria is the place to be.
With a smart terrace for those alfresco summer nights, this restaurant is located just a short stroll from the main tourist centre but away from the hordes.
The cuisine is elevated (though still not ‘expensive’) by local standards. We loved the Insta-worthy presentation, complete with edible flowers and gold leaf!
The food was incredibly fresh with all the usual local specialities plus a few more surprising appearances. Definitely worth a booking if you love a more upscale dining experience!
Ristorante L’Aratro

For that cosy Puglian atmosphere, Ristorante L’Aratro is a popular spot nestled in the heart of Rione Monti.
It’s got that authentic Italian vibe that makes you feel like you might be eating in someone’s Nonna’s house, complete with quaint wooden chairs, floral tablecloths and pleated curtains.
The food itself had a real ‘family-recipe’ feel – hearty, fresh, and tasty, with simple ingredients that showcased the best flavours of the region.
You can choose from a set menu with dishes recommended by the chef or opt for à la carte classics, such as antipasti starters, homemade pasta for primi, and grilled chops for secondi.
As with everywhere in the centre of Alberobello, there are only a handful of tables, so be sure to make a booking!
APPERÓ

Popular for lunch as well as dinner, I couldn’t compile a list of the best restaurants without including APPERÓ.
It’s located in Rione Aia Piccola, which is opposite the more famous zone of Rione Monti, but is still filled with charming streets and Trulli to admire.
This is the ultimate coffee and sandwich spot in town, but also serves a tempting menu of local specialities and regional wines for after dark.
The burrata was simply to die for, and the restaurant itself is tucked away from the Trulli zone where things feel a little less hectic.
The cocktails here are also delicious if you fancy popping in during the early evening for your daily aperitivo!
5 Best Alberobello Bars
Terrazza Panorámico Casedda a Cummersa

I can’t be sure, but this might be the only ‘rooftop’ bar in Alberobello. It’s only a tiny terrace, and the entrance is tucked away inside a souvenir shop, so keep an eye out for the sign to the panoramic terrace.
I definitely recommend heading there at sunset to enjoy the fantastic views.
They also had a great spritz menu here! We tried the first one on the menu, which was a pomegranate spritz, and it was absolutely delicious.
Bar Oil’O

This is a sweet little wine bar and olive oil shop on the main street that we found gets the last little slice of sun in the afternoons.
It’s an ideal spot for an aperitivo, especially if you’re travelling Puglia in the autumn season! They have a great selection of wines and always bring a little snacky snack with your drinks.
We loved soaking up the last few rays of sunshine here before heading elsewhere for dinner.
Paco Wines

Paco Wines is quite a famous underground wine bar we went to after dinner on the last night. I think it gets really busy in peak season, so you might want to book ahead!
It’s housed in quite an atmospheric vaulted cellar, with (unsurprisingly) an extensive list of wines to choose from. The owner is an interesting character who is happy to make suggestions if you’re not sure.
Atelier Spiralis

Located on Largo Martellotta (the main street right in front of the Trulli area), this bar did an incredible almond espresso martini.
We sat on the spacious outdoor terrace to watch the world go by, but the interior had an interesting retro aesthetic for the colder months.
It was a great spot for a drink before or after dinner, and it stayed busy throughout the night.
Cico il Bacaro

Cico il Bacaro is located on the newer side of town, but still just minutes from the historic centre. This bar had the best selection of gins and cocktails, so I can definitely recommend it if you’re not that into wine or beer.
The snacks are also sensational, particularly the bruschetta! It’s a great spot for a drink and a nibble before or after dinner, or during if you’re not feeling too hungry.
Cico il Bacaro appears to be run by the same people as Cico Osteria (mentioned earlier in this guide), so it’s clear they know what they’re doing when it comes to good bars and restaurants in Alberobello.

How to get to Alberobello

The closest airport to Alberobello is Bari Airport, which is around an hour’s drive away.
We rented a car from the airport, and it was pretty easy, and parking was not usually a problem in Alberobello at night (it could be tricky to find spots during the day, however).

You can also catch the bus from Bari Largo Sorrentino to Alberobello. This takes just over an hour and costs less than €5. Alberbello also has a train station with links to other nearby Puglian towns.

Where to Stay in Alberobello at Night

If you’re planning on staying in Alberobello at night, I recommend staying in a trullo for the full authentic experience!
Il Gabellotta Resort offers the chance to stay in a charming Trullo studio without compromising on picturesque amenities like a swimming pool.
See rates and availability here.
Other hotels I recommend are:
Le Alcove: For something a little more luxurious, right in the heart of the Trulli zone with gorgeous suites to choose from.
Terrazza Sui Trulli: Perfect if you won’t be spending much time in the room but want a terrace with stunning city views.
Alberobello at Night: FAQs
Is Alberobello expensive?

Costs are always subjective, but I would say Alberobello is pretty cheap compared with elsewhere in Italy.
You can get a decent cocktail for less than €10, a hearty pasta dish is usually around €12, and bottles of Puglian wine cost less than €20 in most of the local restaurants.
Is it worth staying in Alberobello?

Yes, it is definitely worth staying in Alberobello at night. There is something particularly special about this town once the crowds of day trippers have left, and the magic of the Trulli adorned with fairy lights is something else.
If you’re into photography or like to have the place to yourself, you’ll also appreciate the quiet mornings. We enjoyed a perfect, peaceful coffee and stroll around town every morning until around 9:30/10am, when all the day tours started to arrive.
I definitely encourage you to leave room on your Puglia itinerary for at least one night in Alberobello!
Is Alberobello safe?

Like most small towns in Italy, Alberobello is perfectly safe for tourists, and you are unlikely to witness or fall victim to any crimes.
Since the place is still relatively unknown compared with more popular Italian destinations, there are few tourist scams or pickpockets to be aware of.
Sometimes, a question of safety is less about actual crime rates and more about how you feel. As a woman, I can confidently say I would feel very safe walking alone in Alberbello at night.
