How to Get There

Getting to Silver Beach is easy from most places on the island.
It’s located just off the main ring road in between Lamai and Chaweng – turn off when you see the big red sign for Crystal Bay Yacht Club. There is parking for scooters a short way down this road.
Alternatively, you can order a taxi or use the Songthaews, which are like ride-share trucks that travel around the ring road in both directions.
I wouldn’t recommend driving in a rental car, since parking is limited.
Renting a scooter
It doesn’t cost much to rent a scooter, and you can usually do so through your accommodation provider or at one of the many rental shops.

Using the Songthaew
Get out onto the main ring road and then wait for one to pass by. Simply hail it as it goes by, and tell the driver where you want to be dropped off – you may need to negotiate a price per person.
Where to Stay in Silver Beach Koh Samui

There are a few hotels that overlook the beach itself, but there are also plenty more nearby and some good options at the northern end of Lamai Beach, which is just a 10/15 minute walk away.
Some of the hotels that are directly on Silver Beach don’t get the best reviews, which is why I recommend the three hotels below.
I’ve also written a whole guide on the best places to stay in Koh Samui, which you might want to bookmark for later!
Top Three Silver Beach Hotels

Luxury: Banyan Tree
The Banyan Tree Koh Samui is the ultimate luxury bucket-list hotel, with White Lotus-style villas peppering the hillside. It’s actually located in a private cove adjacent to Silver Beach – meaning you get all the beauty of the location with literally none of the crowds.
Mid-Range: The Lamai
The Lamai is an elegant five-star resort about a 15-minute walk from Silver Beach, with a cocktail bar on a pontoon. It’s also located right on Lamai Beach, so you have a choice of spots to pitch your towel.
Budget: Crystal Bay Yacht Club
Crystal Bay Yacht Club is somewhat basic, but it benefits from a top-tier location, pulled right up to the sand of Silver Beach. This means you can enjoy this gorgeous spot before the crowds arrive in the mornings.
Things to Do in Silver Beach Koh Samui
Snorkelling

Snorkelling is one of the best things to do on Silver Beach, the water is just so clear, blue and inviting.
You’ll need to bring your own snorkel since there is nowhere to rent one on the beach – unless you eat at Crystal Bay Beach Club. They offer rentals to restaurant guests for a small fee (THB150 | £3.50 per hour).
The best place for snorkelling is on the northern end of the beach (the left side when looking out to sea).
Follow the line of rocks that edge the beach all the way around to the boulder at the end, where you can see lots of colourful fish and some interesting coral.
Beach Club

If you want to spend the day lounging on a sunbed, soaking up the incredible views of Silver Beach, you can certainly do that here.
The best one with the most sunbeds is Crystal Bay Beach Club – part of the Crystal Bay Yacht Club hotel. You can rent a sun lounger for the day here, and I recommend arriving in the morning to reserve yours in advance.
It costs THB500 | £11.50 for the whole day, which includes a towel. You can also use the swimming pool and the changing facilities of the hotel. If there are sunbeds available, they’re half price after 2 PM.
Thai Massage

The three main hotels/beach clubs that are dotted behind the sand on Silver Beach have small massage salons attached.
I recommend the one at Crystal Bay Beach resort for a traditional Thai massage.
The beds there are tucked away in a room on a little platform overlooking the sea, so it just feels a bit more private.
Silver Beach Nightlife

There isn’t really any nightlife in Silver Beach since it’s such a small area, but many of the beach bars have happy hours, so it’s easy to grab a few sundowner drinks.
Occasionally, one of the hotels might bring in fire shows or other live entertainment after dark.
Silver Beach Resort has the liveliest atmosphere for happy hour, and it’s located right in the middle of the beach. The mojitos here were very cheap! However, we heard poor reviews of the food, so I wouldn’t recommend eating there.
We had lunch at the Crystal Bay Beach Club and enjoyed a delicious Pad Thai and mango daiquiri, so can recommend that spot if you’re looking for somewhere to eat!
Best Photo Spots on Silver Beach Koh Samui

The whole place is incredibly photogenic, but I would say the best place for taking photos is right at the northern end of the beach, in front of Crystal Bay Resort.
You can wade through some shallow water to reach a patch of sand and rocks that are perfect for taking photos since there are fewer people around. The backdrop of the water really pops here later in the day with the sun behind you.
Another good spot for taking photos on Silver Beach is the southern end, by Crystal Bay Beach Club.

Again, there are fewer people in the vicinity here and rocks dotted in the shallow water, giving that tropical vibe. There’s also a rocky path that leads around the headland, which would be a good spot for photos.
The only reason I preferred the north end of the beach for photos was that there were fewer people watching since it’s tucked away a bit, and I felt like the lighting was better, too.
If you want to get some pics in the water, there’s a nice shallow section leading out from the north end of the beach, which has a lovely jungle backdrop. The water here is so vivid and turquoise you hardly even need to edit your pictures.
